I made this when I was trying to use up stuff in the refrigerator and it came out pretty good. I used frozen cherries but I think it would be a lot more nutritious using frozen strawberries or other berries.

SERVES 2 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen berries (I used cherries but any dark frozen berries would be work out wonderfully)
  • 1 1/2 cups orange juice
  • 1/2 cup plain nonfat yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup ice cube

Directions

  1. 1
    Put all ingredients in blender.
  2. 2
    Blend until thick.

Oh wow did this hit the spot this morning!! I only made it for one serving, but followed as written!! I normally add 1/2 a banana, but really loved this smoothie without it!! My came out the perfect thickness for my tastes, not runny at all!!! Thanks for sharing ellie, will definitely make this again!! Made for your win in the cooking games Summer Spectacular!!!

This was a very good breakfast treat for me and my 3 year old DS. I used strawberries and only 1 cup of OJ. I used vanilla yogurt so omitted the vanilla and only used about 1/2T of honey as the berries were sweet. I threw in 1/2 a banana because I had one I needed to use up and I added a teaspoon of canola oil to my portion. All and all a very good healthy treat. Thanks for posting.

I cut the recipe in half. I like the addition of vanilla. I used vanilla flavored yogurt as well. The honey I skipped. Didn`t need it the strawberries I used were very sweet.Throughout the season the fruit has more or less sweetness. I sure would have used the honey if the berries were not as sweet. It just goes to show you must pre-taste your food. Thanks Ellie!

Pretty good. I usually don't use ice cubes in my smoothies because I don't like how they water the drink down. But it was pretty thin without it, so I did add them. Next time I think I'll use a frozen banana along with the frozen berries (I used strawberries and blackberries) to get that thickness without watering it down. My 2 year old loved it!
