Bread and Butter Pickles

Recipe #11191 | 1½ hours | 45 min prep | add private note

By: Brenda Hall

This is a very good recipe for sweet pickles.(I think) I have had very good luck with it in my first year for canning. Mine turned out good and crisp. When cutting cucumbers like sweet mixed pickles, I added a little bit of red bell pepper and also a little cauliflower to look like the bought ones. Also taste good too.

5 -6 Quarts (change servings and units)

Sprinkle salt over prepared cucumbers and onions.

I think the recipe actually meant 5-6 quarts instead of pints. Some of the cucumbers I used were larger but I wound up with about 20 pints! Other wise the flavor was very good.
