Bread Machine Dinner Rolls

Recipe #166746 | 57 min | 45 min prep | add private note

Although this is a bread machine, I have made these successfully on my stand mixer using a few amount adjustments --- here is the original bread machine recipe for you to enjoy! It states to select the sweet cycle for this! To bring the egg to room temperature faster place the egg in a cup of warm water for about 3-5 minutes. Prep time is rising time, it does not include the machine kneading time --- for pan greasing see my Pan Release, Professional Pan Coating (Better Than Pam Spray!)

SERVES 12 -15 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Place the ingredients in the bread machine in order listed.
  2. 2
    Select the sweet dough cycle.
  3. 3
Adjust the water or flour to create a soft semi-sticky dough after about 5 minutes of kneading.
  4. 4
    Grease a large cookie sheet.
  5. 5
Divide the dough into 12-15 pieces.
  6. 6
Shape each into a ball, place about 2-inches apart.
  7. 7
Cover with a clean tea towel and place in a warm spot to rise until doubled (about 45 minutes (the time will vary depending on the temperature of you room).
  8. 8
Brush the dough balls with egg white mixture, then sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  9. 9
Bake in a 375 degree oven for about 12-15 minutes.

I am rating based on the dough portion only. I am making this recipe to freeze for the holidays. the dough comes out nice and silky. I will edit after breads are baked. Made for Cookathon for Kittencal 2008. Love ya! Kitten- a 5+ in my book. Pulled sme frozen dough out of the freezer this weekend and cooked it up beautifully. Now I know a great recipe to double up so bread can be made on those rough or too busy days. edited 4/12/09---Kitten made again and added in 1 c whole wheat flour, 3 tbsp dried spinach mix(basil, oregano, dehydrated spinach) WOW and super wow. Made for Easter dinner rolls and they came out fantastic. This recipe is very versatile!

Mmmmm! Nothing beats warm bread slathered with butter! (drool) These were really good and since I usually add sugar to my bread, this was perfect and required no fiddling! I did have one problem though, so they may even be better than I think they are. I made a mistake and dumped half a bag of flour into the bread machine tin instead of the plastic flour container I have. Ooops!! Pay attention!! I scooped the flour out and eyeballed it from there. The dough was a bit hard afterwards, but they still came out yummy! Next time, I'll pay attention and try to keep my multitasking to 4 things at a time instead of 5! Oh, and I couldn't find any sesame seeds at the grocery stores near here, so they were of course not used! Thanks for this Kitten!
