And another gift idea! Don't forget to use it yourself on chicken, pork and beef. I have made this using Tequila but the Bourbon does give it a nicer flavor.

6 cups (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

    In a deep frying pan (Dutch oven?), melt the butter and gently fry the onions, chilies and garlic for about 5 minutes.
  2. 2
    Lower the heat and add all the other ingredients, except the Bourbon, stirring after each addition.
  3. 3
    Simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently, then add the Bourbon and cook for another 3-5 minutes.

    Let the sauce cool, stir now and then.

    Put in clean jars or wide neck bottles and label.
  6. 6
    Store in a cool dark place.

great sauce! we butterflied a whole bunch of tiger prawns and basted with this sauce while broiling - fabulous!

    This is wonderful. I didn't have any bourbon so I made it without and it turned out great. I can't wait to try it with the bourbon to see how much better it can be.

    this was just perfect! i halved the recipe and used 1 jalapeno pepper. cooked ribs and basted with this sauce. i rate this 5 napkins, err stars!

    Everyone loved this sauce and I really liked the addition of the bourbon. It gave the sauce great flavour! I left out the chilies since I didn't have any (added in some hot sauce to give it a kick) and cut down on the brown sugar. I cut the recipe in half and it worked really well. Thanks!
