From The Nova Scotia Inns and Restaurants Cookbook, Breads and Muffins section, this recipe is from the Inverary Inn. Nice at breakfast time!

SERVES 12 , 1 bread (change servings and units)

    Combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Work in shortening as for pastry.

    Add currants.

    Moisten with milk, making a soft dough. Knead 10 seconds.

    Pat out on a greased cookie sheet, to a thickness of a 1/2 inch.

    Preheat oven to 375°F and bake for 25 minutes.

    Serve warm with butter.
