Yep. Inspired by the McDonald's Big Mac. Just because it's a salad, doesn't mean it's diet food.

SERVES 8 -10 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Toast all eight pieces of bread until just lightly golden-brown. Let cool and cut into cubes; set aside.
  2. 2
Brown and drain the extra lean ground beef. Let cool.
  3. 3
In a large bowl, combine the cooked and cooled ground beef, toasted bread cubes, finely chopped onions, shredded lettuce and cheese; toss well. Place in a large salad/serving bowl.
  4. 4

This was super good......it tasted just like a big mac! I only used 5 slices of bread and didn't use the sesame seeds, otherwise made it just as posted. It was really good and we will make it again. Thanks!

YAYYYY!! The boyfriend and i love this!!! Used cheese & garlic flavored croutons for the "bread". seasoned beef with pepper and seasoning salt also cooked them with about 4T of the reconstituted onions. (ended up using about 3/4c of onions total!) also added about a tbsp more of sesame seeds. thanks Parsley!!! the only change next time would be to let the sauce sit and meld together for a couple of hours or days. and plan on using this as a "big mac salad sandwich" between some nice buns!!

This tastes ALOT like a big mac, only less greasy. I seasoned my meat with a little garlic powder, seasoned salt and pepper. I cut the recipe in half for us. For the "croutons" I used hot dog buns which I halved, spread with some butter and toasted them. I then cut them in cubes and put them in the oven to "dry" out, and I put the seasame seed on the same pan to lightly toast while the meat was cooking. In the morning I made the "dressing" . I remembered that Big Macs have dill pickles on them so I used half sweet and half dill relish. I also used seasoned salt in place of the regular. My DH has said give it a 5 star rating and make it again soon. I hate it when I can't argue with him when he's right.

Michelle S kept telling me how good this was, so I made a huge batch of it for a church potluck. It was devoured. I did have to make a little more dressing as I think my head of lettuce was larger than usual. The flavor all combined and tasted just like a Big Mac. The kids really loved it and so did the adults. This one is a keeper and I will be making it again.
