Betty's Beer Margarita

Recipe #80994 | 5 min | 5 min prep | add private note

By: AuntWoofieWoof
Jan 13, 2004

Betty was a friend of mine who was around my dads age and was like a mother to me. She used to tell me about this drink and what was in it but I never had them until now because I didn't have her exact recipe. Betty died of lung cancer last February, before I could get her recipe. I found the recipe on "The Food Network" web site and improvised it to suit my taste and named it after Betty. You can add more tequila if you want to. Warning: More than one might sneak up on you because you can't taste the tequila!

SERVES 1 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Pour lime juice or the 2 tablespoons of limeade onto a saucer.
  2. 2
Spoon the salt onto another saucer so that there is a thin layer of salt.
  3. 3
Dip the rim of a beer mug or a tall glass in the lime juice/limeade and then in the salt.
  4. 4
Pour beer, limeade concentrate and tequila into a 2 cup measuring cup and stir well.
  5. 5
Pour into the beer mug/tall glass (with or without ice).
  6. 6
Put the lime wedge on the rim of the mug/glass to make it look like you are having a fancy drink.
  7. 7
    Cheers
  8. 8
Note:For best results, put the beer mug/glass in the freezer for about 10 or 15 minutes before serving to have a nice cold, frosty mug/glass.
  9. 9
It helps keep the drink cold longer.

This was pretty good. I never drink beer and I actually thought this was good for the few drinks off it I had before handing it to DH. I am a big fan of margarita and this was a neat twist on one. Simple to make and ingredients a lot of people might have on hand make this a good quick drink to jazz up a dinner party or whatever. I think I would add a bit more limeade next time since the beer was most prominent. We used kokanee.

This combination worked well. More of a beer taste than some beer margaritas that I've tried, but none the less, a good drink. I added additional fresh lime juice just for personal preference. Thanks for sharing.

FABULOUS!!! I have had a bottle of Tequila that I won at a party hangin' around for a looong time b/c I don't care for the taste. However, I do like beer, so I thought I'd give this a shot and boy am I glad that I did!!! This combo really works! Great mellowed-down version of Margaritas...refreshing drink for those hot summer nights. Thanks for a new fave! ~Manda
