Better Than Sex Cake IIi

Recipe #3595 | 50 min | 15 min prep | add private note

By: Paul K. Lago
Sep 23, 1999

It is my understanding that there are a variety of recipes masquerading under this name, but this is the one that my friends like most. Overnight chilling not included in preparation time.

SERVES 24 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 (18 1/4 ounce) package dark chocolate cake mix

  • 1 1/3 cups water (or as directed in cake directions)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (or as directed in cake directions)
  • 3 eggs (or as directed in cake directions)

  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

  • 1 (8-12 ounce) jar Mrs Richardson's caramel topping or butterscotch topping
  • 8 ounces whipped topping (Extra Creamy Dream Whip is good)
  • 2 Heath candy bars, crushed (Skor bars or Nestle's Heath bits will also work, if you can find them)

Directions

  1. 1
    Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. 2
Grease and lightly flour 13" x 9" cake pan.
  3. 3
Mix cake as directed on package.
  4. 4
Bake the cake about 35 minutes or until it tests done.
  5. 5
As soon as it comes out of the oven, poke holes all over it with a fork (I actually use a small diameter chop stick) and pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake, followed by caramel sauce (microwaved about one minute until warm and easily pourable - I use only about 10 oz of the jar).
  6. 6
    Refrigerate overnight.
  7. 7
Shortly before serving, spread whipped topping over cake and sprinkle with crushed Heath bars (or bits).
  8. 8
    Enjoy.

This is truly the mother of all BTS cakes out there. I have made this exact recipe more times than I can count. I always receive rave reviews. Some times I have to call it the "Ooey Gooey Yummy Cake" due to the ears of children or male co-workers. I have caught grown men licking up the yummy remains on the bottom of the pan after the cake is gone. You just have to taste it to believe it.

I've made this cake a few times and each time I come home with a clean dish. It's sweet, decadent and rich. I suggest sprinkling some toasted coconut and pecans on the top for a slight change up in flavor! Thank you for posting this!

I sure can vouch for this one. I've made this at least a dozen times in the past two years and have always recieved many compliments! This was known to me as the "better than sex" cake, and most people blushingly agree when they taste it that it's title lives up to it's name!

This cake was absolutely rich and decadent!! I used a fudge cake mix, caramel butterscotch ice cream topping and extra creamy whipped topping and it turned out marvelous! My brother in law who doesn't eat many sweets, especially chocolate, gave me a container and told me to "put as much as you can in it" for him to take home! Everyone adored this cake.
