This is a very good base recipe - quick and easy to make. I did make a couple changes. I doubled the mushrooms, added a bit more beef broth and sour cream (we like a lot of sauce), and threw in about 1/4 cup of cooking sherry. I also used 4 cloves of real garlic in place of the garlic powder. Next time I will add even more mushrooms as we really like lots.

This was my first attempt at ever making a stroganoff recipe...we usually stick to basic, simple rotation of meals. My family absolutely LOVED this dish, so we have now added it to our list of favorites and will be making it regularly. Thanks so much for this!

I have made this recipe twice now and I love it. The sauce is rich, but not too rich. The first time I used beef tenderloin and cut the meat into cubes. The last time I made it, I used sirloin and cut it into strips. Both were great. I also use fresh garlic (instead of powder) and fresh mushrooms (instead of canned). I like to add about a splash of dry red wine when I return the meat mixture to the pan and let it simmer covered for a half hour or so, then add the sour cream and serve over egg noodles. This is the beef stroganoff my kids will grow up eating.

That IS a REAL Russian Beef Stroganoff recipe. All other recipes are combinations of cultures. I give 2 thumbs up just because it is a REAL recipe. Good find, M Messer!
