Basic Poutine Recipe

This recipe has been posted from a request. I've had this several times and it is extremely good! Measurements are strictly up to you! Cook time is estimated for french fry cooking time. And # of servings is also up to you! Do you want to share or have it all for yourself? I suspect once you taste it, you won't want to share! If you are having trouble finding the cheese curds, I found this info online: To make your own: Wrap cottage cheese in cheesecloth and place in a colander or strainer nested inside a bowl. Place in the refrigerator until much of the liquid has drained into the bowl. Substitutes: jack OR Muenster

SERVES 1 -4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Mix French fries and cheese curds.
  2. 2
Pour the gravy over top and wait until the cheese begins to melt.
  3. 3
    Then dig in.

Ohhhhh my goodness. I used farmer cheese, which was easy to find, and the poutine was wonderful. My kids and I ate it all, so DH didn't even get a taste. Oops.

I live in Montreal (Quebec) so I have been eating poutine for a long time!!! I use frozen french fries with mozzarella and/or cheddar (if I don't have cheese curds on hand).

Delicious! Made this tonight and my boyfriend raved about it. This has got to be one of the easiest meals ever. Like Pamela I also used shoestring french fries, but I used a package of poutine gravy mix. It was quite salty but oh so good... and I agree, I'm sure it would have been THAT much tastier using home-made gravy!
