This is the best way to cook bacon. It cooks more evenly this way and more importantly, it requires little attention. The most wonderful part is you don't have grease spatters on your stove!

SERVES 2 -4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 8-10 slices centre cut apple-smoked bacon
  • black pepper (optional)

Directions

  1. 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

I LOVE loads of pepper on my bacon, and this was the perfect, most simple way to prepare it. You can have the bacon baking while you cook the remainder of the items you need. Thank you for sharing!

The BEST and ONLY way bacon is cooked in our house from now on... I first saw my future MIL cook bacon this way at our house in the SC mountains in a cast iron pan... I usually cook bacon on the stove or in the microwave, but both ways are so messy compared to this technique. The only thing I do differently is to put the bacon on the pan and place the pan in a COLD oven... my MIL says that way the bacon does not curl up like it has a tendency to do otherwise... Thanks for sharing!!!

You're right. This IS the best way to cook bacon. No splatters, too. Don't forget the parchment paper for easy clean up.. I just bake the whole pound of bacon and then freeze it. I roll about 3 slices at a time in plastic wrap. That way they come apart easily. Then just reheat in the microwave.
