Bear with me on these, this is one of those recipes that I just throw together and don't really know the exact amount of ingredients I use. So I took a gander here, the best I can tell you is keep tasting and add more of this or that until you get the taste you like. Once you do I promise these will be a BIG hit, they are DELICIOUS! I have made them both cold and warm--I prefer them cold. Enjoy.

SERVES 2 -4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Drain green beans and cool to room temperature.
  2. 2
Add all ingredients and mix together thoroughly.
  3. 3
Put in refrigerator to chill for at least 2 hours.
  4. 4
Don't saturate the green beans in liquid, add just enough to moisten and for flavor.

I've made these several times, but I tried something different this time. I roasted the green beans to cook them before marinating. This added a complexity that goes soooo well with balsamic vinegar and garlic!! Delish!

I was going to post my family's way of preparing fresh green beans, and saw this recipe which is so close! Sometimes we use Red wine vinegar (which is how we originally did it) and about a tablespoon of freshly minced garlic. Also a great addition which we always add is some dried mint leaves (maybe about a teaspoon or so) mixed in. These don't even need to be chilled. you can serve them warm or room temp. Just make sure to stir them up .Great Sicilian style beans!

Five Stars for certain! These greenbeans were wonderful. They were very easy to prepare, and the beans were that lovely bright green color. I added fresh garlic, but the basalmic was the true flavor enhancer. A nice combination of ingredients. Thanks for posting a wonderful recipe, Dana. It will be used here in my house again.

These were very tasty. Followed directions exactly. Picky DH went for seconds. I want to try them with fresh garlic next time, but even with the powdered, there was a nice garlicky taste. Will certainly make this again.
