Easy to make without the bother of cooking beans from scratch. Goes great with pulled-pork sandwiches and bbq ribs! Be sure to make plenty for your next cookout, cause they'll go fast!

SERVES 6 -8 (change servings and units)

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Cook bacon in large skillet until fat is rendered and lightly brown, about 5 minutes.

    Drain fat; save 2 tbsp.
  4. 4
    fat and cook onion, garlic, and ginger until onion is tender, about 5 minutes.

    Remove from heat.
  6. 6
    Stir in beans, sugar, molasses, bbq sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and vinegar.

    Season to taste with salt and pepper.

    Place bean mixture in an oven-proof baking dish or casserole; bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until thickened.

    Alternatively, they can be cooked on a bbq grill, away from the flames or coals, approximately 30 minutes, or until thick.

This recipe was not a success for me. I didn't like how it smelled or how it tasted. The mustard and BBQ sauce overwhelmed the other flavours and just didn't work for me. I'm not sure I can salvage this one, I may have to go with store bought now. I wasted all that lovely bacon too.

    These were so easy to prepare! I used Nance's Hot Mustard instead of Yellow Mustard. The ginger gave this dish a great flavor! I almost used dried ginger and decided to run to the store at the last minute to purchase fresh ginger.... I am glad I did! Thank you for the recipe!!! I will make these over and over again!

    I just sesrved these beans for an office potluck, and they were a big hit! I made them in a crockpot - one hour on high and then another hour on low just to keep them hot. I doubled the recipe but didn't have enough northern beans, so I used kidney beans. Don't overlook this excellent recipe.
