I didn't use the extra oil either, but wish I had. The bacon grease was a bit "gritty and brown" for the green onions, I thought. All in all though, I thought the recipe was great. I used cheddar this time, will try swiss or a combo mix next time. Use milk instead of cream. The mustard and nutmeg worked for me! All in all, we thought it was great!

i didn't use extra oil for the onions instead i cooked them in the same pan the bacon was in. i also omitted the nutmeg and used milk instead of cream and it was still wonderful tasting!

This was really yummy. I did saute the onions in the bacon grease instead of oil, I didn't see the need to use oil when that was already there. I used 1/4 cup reg onion and 1/4 cup red onion, since I had no green onions. I also used more salt and pepper and added oregano since I am pregnant and the thought of mustard and nutmeg made me ill! It was still very good and something light for my poor belly! Thanks!

I really appreciated this recipe when I needed something for supper at the last minute! I ended up making it into a crustless quiche, but it was very good that way too. I did add more salt and pepper; that's just me! I was pleasantly surprised how well the dry mustard and nutmeg went together. Thanks for helping me out in a pinch!
