wow this is so easy to do and the bread has a nice texture. Mine was not dense. It was moist. I used vegetable oil instead of shortening. That's the only change I made. Thanks Marie for the recipe Made for TYM tag game

This was my first attempt at using a bread machine and all in all I think it turned out okay. The loaf was a bit denser than I expected but then again my expectation could be a bit off (never made anything other than a quick bread with any success). I chose to use the dough only cycle then bake in the oven at 350 for 25 minutes as others stated but in my very reliable oven this was not enough time. I cooked my bread for almost double the time. The loaf was tall and beautiful and makes a good sandwich. It is also equally delicious smothered in homemade peach jam.

I'm constantly amazed by how many fantastic bread recipes there are out there! This one is up near the top of my favorites. It's an excellent basic white bread with soft texture and delicious flavor. I used butter flavor crisco, had to add just a tad more water to the machine because the flour was sticking to the side. Instead of baking in my bread machine, I used the dough cycle, then took the dough out, let it rise again and baked in my 350 degree oven for 25 minutes. Perfection!

This bread is AWESOME! So light and airy on the inside and crusty outside. I've tried alot of bread machine recipes and this is one of my most favorites. Thanks so much for sharing this! Just a note I set my machine to light crust.
