My husband and I created this recipe together. He won a chili cookoff with this recipe at work. We always use venison, but you can use ground beef or turkey.

This chili is absolutely perfect. Just the right amount of mild and heat. I can see why it won an award! Chili is a Halloween tradition in my house and this never disappoints.

I know some people say beans don't belong in chili but, I LOVE beans in my chili and, so, I loved this chili with all it's beans. I made this as is, though I halved the jalapeno, chili powder and cayenne to appease my husband's stomach. Turned out perfect for us and all gave 5 *'s except for my husband, who says he prefers my old, boring chili...too bad, this is getting 5 from the rest of us! Next time I'm using 2 cans of black beans, only because I LOVE black beans. This was great with corn bread. Thanks KelBel, I'll be making this again...whenever I want that wonderful aroma of black beans in my house

Thanks for this GREAT recipe! I made it last night for our church's 3rd annual chili cook off and came in 2nd place! I used Bison as my meat and it was really wonderful. I love the warmth of this chili! The spices are right on. I also used only the black beans. Delicious!
