Apple Turnover for One

This is a scaled-down version of an old-fashioned apple dessert. It came from Taste of Home Magazine subscriber Phyllis Fahey from Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

SERVES 1 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

GLAZE

Directions

    In a small bowl, combine flour and salt; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

    Sprinkle with ice water and toss with a fork.
  3. 3
    Form into a ball.
  4. 4
    On a lightly floured surface, roll dough into a 7-inch circle.
  5. 5
    Place apple slices on half of the circle; sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.

    Fold dough over filling, sealing edges with fingers or pressing with a fork.

    Brush with milk.
  8. 8
    Prick top with a fork.
  9. 9
    Place on a greased baking sheet.

    Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minute or until golden brown.

    Combine glaze ingredients until smooth; drizzle over turnover.

    This is a great treat! I live alone but always cook for myself. On the way home from work I was thinking about an apple turnover - knew I had one good apple left and went searching for a recipe. This was great - crust was flakey - inside great - made the place smell great too. Thanks for the recipe.
