Ann's Kielbasa and Spuds

Recipe #43165 | 35 min | 15 min prep | add private note

By: Abbeygurl
Oct 14, 2002

I came up with this recipe out of desperation one day. It has since become a regular meal in our home. I usually end up doubling it for my family of 7.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Slice kielbasa into 1/2" or so slices.
  2. 2
Saute kielbasa with onions in a dutch oven over medium heat.
  3. 3
    Continue until nicely browned.
  4. 4
Add potatoes to the kielbasa and onions.
  5. 5
Mix water, brown sugar, mustard and soy sauce.
  6. 6
    Add to the dutch oven.
  7. 7
Cover and simmer until potatoes are done.
  8. 8
May have to add more water depending on how much the spuds soak up.
  9. 9
If potatoes break down they make the sauce nice and thick.
  10. 10
May also add peppers or green beans.
  11. 11
I sometimes skip the potatoes and serve the kielbasa with pierogies.
  12. 12
If I'm in a hurry I nuke the spuds a few minutes to reduce cooking time in the pot.
  13. 13
    Hope you enjoy this!

I love to try new combinations of flavors, but this one didn't quite do it for me. My tastebuds didnt quite no where to go with it. Sorry Abbeygurl.

I always hate to give low-stars, but I want to stay honest. This just didn't go over well with my family. When I originally tagged the recipe, I didn't look carefully at the instructions. I thought the potatoes were going to be fried and then coated with a sauce. Well, its all just a matter of taste because some people before me thought it was outstanding.

This was delicious. I made it tonight just as the recipe said. I did find I had to cook it for a bit longer than specified. We really enjoyed it. Thanks for this one.

This is a great dish! I cooked the kielbasa with onions but I drained the grease off. I also made it with the pierogies. It was delicious!! Thanks so much Abbeygurl ; )
