This is an ancient Greek Recipe taken from the "Taste" Greek Magazine. It sounds really interesting and not all that difficult using the food processor for crushing the nuts and seeds.

1 cake (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 200 g flour, unbleached
  • 50 g almonds, blanched and crushed
  • 50 g walnuts, crushed
  • 150 g honey (thyme honey prefered)
  • 3 eggs
  • 50 g sesame, ground

Directions

  1. 1
    Grind the sesame.
  2. 2
Grease a cake pan and sprinkle with the ground sesame.
  3. 3
Crush the almonds and walnuts well.
  4. 4
    Preheat the oven to 200 c (375 f).
  5. 5
Beat the eggs with the honey and slowly add the flour and all the other ingredients, including any left over sesame, beating constantly.
  6. 6
    Place batter in pan.
  7. 7
Bake for 45 minutes, leaving the oven door open a bit for the first 10 minutes.
  8. 8
When done remove from the oven and take the cake out of the pan.
  9. 9
Cover with a towel until cool.

I thought this was a little bland. I did add some cinnamon to the mix before baking. I think it will taste better with honey drizzled on top. Made for Photo Tag

Sorry, this one didn't work out for me. I followed it exactly, using wildflower honey and sesame seeds ground with my mortar and pestle. I'm wondering if I should have used Tahini? Mine was burned and dry at 30 minutes and had an odd flavor. Made for the ZWT4.

This is very unique but very good! It wasn't difficult at all to make and a great treat. Made for ZWT4 for the Tastebud Tickling Travellers.

What an interesting recipe to make, & when all was served up, I called them Ancient Greek Chews, which I served with individual sides of citrus honey! VERY TASTY, VERY UNIQUE, VERY ENJOYABLE! Thanks for sharing! [Made & reviewed while in Greece during Zaar's World Tour 4]
