Amaretto Sour Baci

When I was a bartender people always commented that I made the best mixed drinks. One of my requested mixed drinks was my version of the Amaretto Sour. My “secret” was the addition of 7-Up which I think gave the drink a gentle fizz that broke up the syrupy sweetness of the drink. I usually made my own sour mix, which was nothing more then Country Time Lemonade (another “secret”) or would mix lemon juice with some granulated sugar — and shake vigorously. You can also use store bought sour mix.

SERVES 1 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces carbonated lemon-lime beverage (I use 7-Up)
  • 3 ounces Amaretto
  • 2 ounces sour mix (or 1 1/2 ounces lemon juice with granulated sugar)
  • 2 orange slices, garnish
  • 1 maraschino cherry

Directions

  1. 1
Pour ingredients into a shaker filled with ice or into a glass that a smaller glass can fit into and shake.
  2. 2
Strain into a highball glass and squeeze the juice from one orange slice into the drink and garnish with the other orange slice and a maraschino cherry.

Delicious! I love the soda addition because it gives some of the citrus sour taste without so much burn-your-tongue sour like you get with the sour mix. Very nice taste. I didn't have orange slices and had to cheat with orange extract...just a drop. Thanks!

I actually set down my Goose bottle for an afternoon and enjoyed these. Dugan has only a few drinks a year and I was delighted and surprised when he joined me! He loves amaretto and had three. And was snoring in his La-Z-Boy an hour later and I had the house to myself. I wish he would drink more often.

Very refreshing. Made big batch for cook out on a hot Texas summer night. Thanks for posting.
