    Clean squid.

    Chop tomatoes.
  3. 3
    Crush garlic.
  4. 4
    Slice onion.
  5. 5
    Combine water, vinegar, pepper, sugar, salt, bay leaf and half of the garlic.

    Marinate squid in this mixture for 1 hour.

    Drain squid, keeping the marinade.
  8. 8
    In pan, saute onion, remaining garlic and tomato in the oil.

    Add drained squid.

    Saute until juice evaporates, about 10 minutes.

    Strain marinade.

    Add to squid mixture.

    Simmer 15 minutes.
