Addictive Cheeseburger Pizza

Recipe #83608 | 50 min | 30 min prep | add private note

Feb 11, 2004

The comment I hear from everyone the first time they eat this is, "This is the best pizza I've ever had!" My daughters have old high school friends who still ask for this. It's very filling, so one pan goes a ways.

SERVES 6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Brown the burger, sausage, green pepper, onion, and garlic until the meat is fully cooked.
  2. 2
While this is cooking, spread/pat/roll your crust unto a greased jelly roll pan, pushing the dough up the sides to make an edge.
  3. 3
Prebake the crust in a 400 oven for 7-10 minutes or until it just begins to color.
  4. 4
Top the hot crust with the desired amount of pasta sauce.
  5. 5
(I don't like too much sauce on my pizza) Add the meat mixture, spreading evenly.
  6. 6
Top with the sliced Velveeta cheese, leaving about 1/2 inch between slices.
  7. 7
Add the mozzarella cheese in an even layer.
  8. 8
Bake at 400 for about 20 minutes, or until the top layer of cheese begins to brown.
  9. 9
Allow to sit for 5 minutes before cutting into 12 squares.

Surprisingly delicious! We're not fans of velveeta but I had some that needed to be used up. Now I'll have to keep it on hand. I used all hamburger for the meat and topped with some pepperoni. Very quick & easy!

I can pretty honestly say that I never met a pizza I didn't like, but this one is exceptional! It reminds me of the "Hamburger Pizza" my mom made when I was a kid, which was a neighborhood favorite. For the dough I used a 1 pound bag of Trader Joe's refrigerated pizza dough. It was the right amount of dough for one pizza. I used three cloves of garlic and added some dried oregano to the meat mixture. I used Velveeta "slices", rather than buying the big "block". This recipe is a keeper! Thanks Vina.
