Different, unusual way to prepare ribs. The soda pop tenderizes the meat. Untried recipe but they sound so good I just had to post them!

SERVES 4 -6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Place ribs in large stock pot and pour Dr. Pepper over ribs to cover.

  4. 4
Place ribs in baking pan and pour BBQ sauce over ribs.
  5. 5
Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 to 45 minutes.

Not possible! The very best ribs I've ever tasted even above my favorite steakhouse! I used a large crock pot. Filled it with one 2-liter Dr Pepper (non-diet), exact amount of liquid smoke and garlic. Went to AJ's and picked up a small slab of baby back ribs. But knowing my husband is wierd about ribs and fat I also picked up a very lean pork loin. I cut the ribs in sections and put the pork loin in the same mix. Also used a crock pot liner which makes clean up easy. Cooked on high for 2 hours and 4 hours on low. At the end I took each piece out, covered with sauce and baked in oven as directed for about 35 minutes. Some mention end product is too sweet. I can't stand anything too sweet and am raving this is best I've tasted. Make sure you use the liquid smoke. Also, if you don't like sweet pick the proper Barbecue sauce. I used Cattleman's Authentic. I will make all barbecued items this way even chicken from now on. Painfully good!!!!! Many thanks for posting!

I've tried several recipes from Recipezaar for all sorts of dishes. Some great, some so-so, and some not to my tastes. This recipe inspired me to rate it and add comments. It was soooooooooooo good. The meat was not dry andwas very fork tender. I cooked them in the Dr. Pepper about 1 hour and 20 min before the oven part. I found a really good bbq sauce last month called Sweet Baby Ray's which is what I used. It's bottled sauce I got at Kroger. This is the 6th time I've used this sauce. I love it. They got a website in case anyone is curious : sweetbabyrays.com. No I don't work for them but think it goes well with this OUTSTANDING recipe. Thank you sooooo much JoAnn for posting it. I highly reccomend this recipe.
