Absolutely Fabulous Granola Bars

Recipe #225683 | 40 min | 15 min prep | add private note

By: Hines' Honey
May 1, 2007

My family loves granola bars. The quaker brand used to be there favorite, but since I have been making these granola bars I have been forbidden to bring the "store bought" kind into the house. The nice thing about this recipe is that you can add as many "mix-in's as you would like. Chocolate, dried fruit, nuts ... the list is endless.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    Preheat oven to 325 F.
  2. 2
Line 9x13 pan with tin foil. Grease the foil, then set pan aside.
  3. 3
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until well combined.
  4. 4
    Press evenly into prepared pan.
  5. 5
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown across the top of the bars.
  6. 6
Immediately remove from pan and invert on to a cooling rack so that the foil can be removed from the bars.
  7. 7
Allow to cool, then cut into bars.
  8. 8
I wrap them indiviually, so they can be quickly snatched for a snack of breakfast on the run.

Sorry, this just didn't work out very well for us. Maybe I'll try t again to find a variation that suits us.

Thumbs up from the Robson Clan! I made this last week instead of buying the store bought ones. The family loved it and have requested it for their lunch boxes this week. I used golden syrup instead of corn because of food allergies & also added dried cranberries because they were on hand. Thankyou for sharing

Def AB-FAB !! So versatile...you really can not go wrong with this and the recipe is delightfully open and receptive to "mix-ins", "add-ons" and subs...I used some homemade nut butter and apple sauce instead of the oil ...I had no egg so I used a combo of flax seed and mashed banana for extra "binding"...I used some steel oats in addition to the 4 cups of whole and added wheat flour instead of the white...I had a fabulous chocolate bar on hand so used that in place of chips and threw in some peanut-butter chips as well (they have been in the freezer since leftover from Christmas cookies so it was their time {{lol}} )...really good...devilishly decadent and YUM!! Thanks Hines' Honey
