Cool and refreshing summer treat. The recipe calls for freezing in the freezer overnight. I used my ice cream freezer and the results were wonderful. This recipe comes from an advertising insert.

SERVES 9 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Cut the cantaloupe in half, scoop out and discard seeds.
  2. 2
Peel and slice the melon; cut into large pieces.
  3. 3
Place in a blender container along with milk and honey.
  4. 4
    Cover and blend until smooth.
  5. 5
Pour into a freezer-proof container and freeze overnight or until firm.
  6. 6
Or my method, pour into ice-cream freezer and freeze according to manufactuers recommendations.
  7. 7
My ice-cream maker takes about 30 minutes; however the cooking time given reflects freezing overnight.

What a treat! I had to go several stores to find great smelling... ie.. nice ripe fruit.. Served to dinner company for dessert.. with mint leaves and whipped cream. Did use ice cream maker-probably took about 15 min.

So awful, it made me wonder whether or not I actually like cantaloupe. It may be a long time before I eat cantaloupe again!

This stuff is absolutely delicious! They didn't have fat-free sweetened condensed milk at my store so I splurged and used the regular stuff. I used my food processor to blend the ingredients and then 1/2 hour in the ice cream maker. I couldn't stop tasting this as it was freezing, it's that good. So refreshing on a hot summer day. Thanks so much for posting this Paula, it's a keeper!

I made this two days ago. It was my first time using my new icecream maker and at first I thought there was something terribly wrong, as after an hour and a half in the machine it was still soup. So I got my instruction manual out and read the instructions and duh....I was supposed to put the ice cream maker in the freezer for 24 hours first. so out came the cantaloupe mixture, I washed the freezer bowl, and banged it in the freezer. Next day I tried it again and was rewarded with a wonderfully delicious sherbet! We loved it! Thanks for a great recipe!
