Very Easy Garlic Sauteed Spinach

Recipe #95801 | 15 min | 5 min prep | add private note

By: joano
Jul 16, 2004

This is a very quick, flavorful and heart-healthy side dish. If you haven't cooked with fresh spinach before you will be amazed at how easy it is to cook and how much better it tastes than frozen or canned. The dish can easily be multiplied, as long as you have a pan big enough to hold the raw spinach.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In a pan large enough to hold the spinach, put olive oil and garlic, over medium heat.
  2. 2
add spinach immediately and saute, moving the cooked spinach from the bottom up to keep things cooking evenly.
  3. 3
when all of the spinach is wilted and the stems are tender, it's done.
  4. 4
do not let the garlic brown or it will get bitter.

I recently started making this same dish except I add onion slices first and brown them a little. This recipe has definitely gotten us to eat more fresh spinach. I hardly cooked it before so this is a WONDERFUL recipe.

This was a garlic veggie delight! Sooo easy and fast to make, and so very delicious! I used twice as much garlic (just because I LOVE garlic) and it was yummy! I served this with a steak and it complimented the meal perfectly. Although I love spinach, I usually use vinegar on it - this was so good that I even skipped the vinegar because I wanted to enjoy the flavor without it. I plan to make some this morning for breakfast (!!) and maybe even for lunch! Thanks for sharing!
