Those Pretzel Things ( Pecan Rollo Bites)

Recipe #95220 | 15 min | 10 min prep | SERVES 50 (Change Servings)

RECIPE BY: Kat Rahal

My niece made these for our 4th of July party and they were gone before dessert was even served! Everyone loved them and kept going back for one more of "those pretzel things"! So easy to make- a definite for my Christmas cookie baskets.

Posted on: Jul 7, 2004

Ingredients

  • 50 small pretzel twists
  • 50 pieces rollo candies
  • 50 pieces whole pecans or walnut
  • Directions

    1. 1
Place pretzel pieces on a baking sheet.
    2. 2
      Top with one Rollo candy.
    3. 3
Place in a warm (250 degrees) oven to just let the Rollo candy melt on top of the pretzel to hold it in place.
    4. 4
Remove from oven and place a pecan piece on top.
    5. 5
      Let cool and harden.

So simple and so good. I had these over Christmas and I love them. Sweet, salty, crunchy and gooey!

This is exactly the recipe that my MIL made one Christmas and passed on to my husband and myself. I still can't believe how fabulous they are given how ridiculously simple they are! We always use square pretzels for bases (just easier in our opinion) and they take about five minutes to soften in our oven. They do get a little tedious to build but it's so worth it in the end - your patience will be rewarded! If you can't find Rolos (only one store in our area has them!) you might try using Hershey's Kisses with caramel, they're pretty close to the same thing, though I would guess that they'd melt a little bit faster than Rolos.

If you top them with dry roasted peanuts, they taste like a snickers!

I used those square grid pretzels for the base and they work very well!
