Candied Walnuts

You can top anything from a salad to ice cream with these or just eat them as is. These I made for Heathers Sweet Potato Roasted Whole Sweet Potatoes With Maple Ginger Topping. Check it out it's yummy!

    In a heavy bottom pan heat to medium high heat.

    Place nuts and butter, when butter is melted and nuts are coated with the butter sprinkle sugar and cinnamon if wanted over nuts stirring till carmelized.

    Pour out on parchment paper separate nuts and cool.

    This is exactly what I was looking for, had a bag of walnuts and needed a quick sugar fix and didn't want to make a mess and don't have a candy thermometer that most recipes require. I added a little cinnamon to the sugar and nibbled on a couple. I actually had to hide them from my DH, he couldn't stop eating them LOL I made a double batch. This will go great on top of ice cream! Thanks for sharing this quick and tasty treat Rita!

    These are very good! They are quite easy and quick to make although a little light on the "candied" aspect. I served these on salad, and they worked quite well. I would use again, but probably increase the sugar for my own tastes. Thanks for posting!
