Made these for breakfast. I used Jimmy Dean light sausage (12oz) and it was perfect. Not greasy at all. I baked them for 17 minutes. These would be great for an appetizer as well.

These were very good. They were a big hit with my DH & DS. I didn't use them as an appetizer but as a meat entree and a way to stretch my one pound package of Jimmy Dean Ground Sausage. I served this along with a Baked Mac & Cheese casserole. I didn't refrigerate the roll first before slicing and regretted it. It was so soft that it was hard to cut. I made thinner slices (about 1/2 inch) and only got about 16 slices. This had very good flavor and because I used a lean sausage it was not greasy when finished.

These are great. My sister-in-lw makes this same recipe often, and I have also made these for parties. I have used reduced fat crescent rolls and reduced fat sausage with no problems. I usually stretch the meat to accomodate 2 packages of crescent roll dough, using half a log of sausage for each. I also don't usualy chill it first - I just roll them and bake and they come out so tasty.
