Homestyle Beef Stroganoff

This is a real fast and easy way to make great stroganoff, the meat is very tender and delicous!

SERVES 4 -8 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

    Sauté onion in olive oil until softened.
  2. 2
    Add steak to the skillet and simmer meat covered for 30 minutes.
  3. 3
    Remove 3/4 of the juice from steak.
  4. 4
    Add red wine, cream of mushroom soup, salt and pepper and cover lid again.
  5. 5
    In separate pan sauté mushrooms in butter, add parsley and paprika.
  6. 6
    When done add sauteed mushrooms to the steak and bring to a boil.
  7. 7
    Add 4 tbls of sour cream to steak.
  8. 8
    Serve over medium or wide egg noodles.

We really enjoyed this. I would probably use less red wine next time (personal preference).

    Really enjoyed this. The flavor is great. Thanks for posting it. I tried to hurry the dish and ended up with meat that was kinda tough, but Dad always said it was tougher without.

    Very Very good Make sure you use enough mushrooms they make the dish. And yes you need a Tablespoon of Paprika it seemed too much to me but it is the right amount.

    I have never made Stroganoff before using sirloin steaks. I am now a convert!! This was a very easy recipe to follow and the results were quite tasty. I did have to add a little additional seasonings (our taste preferences): Used 1 pound of mushrooms and added 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce as we felt it needed just a tad more of a bite. This recipe will be made and used again, often! Thanks for posting a wonderful recipe!!
