Another terrific one from my MIL! Great with anything from the grill.

SERVES 8 -10 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    Preheat oven to 350.
  2. 2
Slice the loaf of French bread horizontally through the middle so that you have two"boats".
  3. 3
Place bread on jelly roll pan, or in other large casserole dish, cut sides up.
  4. 4
(Or you can place bread in a"boat" made out of foil, for the grill).
  5. 5
Combine all ingredients, including garlic salt and seasoned salt to taste.
  6. 6
    (I use liberal amounts).
  7. 7
With spatula, spread each half of the French bread with the mixture.
  8. 8
    Bake for 15 minutes.

We loved this! I followed the recipe exactly and was rewarded with a great addition to my Greek-style meal. DH went especially crazy over it. It was easy to make and I will be making it again. Thank you for posting!

I have to disagree with another reviewer and say this was indeed heavenly! I followed the recipe to a t and we all loved it, this is a real treat that will go with anything you serve. This will be enjoyed many times in my home. I am thinking if you added some chopped cooked chicken breast before you bake this you would have a great meal in one. Oh I am sorry, I DID add red pepper flakes but I add those to everything.

Excellent bread. Followed recipe exactly as written except used Italian bread instead of French. The olives were a definite plus. Next time I may sprinkle a little Greek Oregano over the bread before baking. Not that it needs it mind you. I just like to experiment.

Fantastic! I used fresh garlic in place of the garlic salt that I minced in the food processor. I added the olives & green onions and whirled for a couple of seconds then added the rest of the ingredients. Very simple to make. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. I will be serving this again! Thanks for a great recipe.
