This is SUPERB! I grew up loving Campbell's split pea soup, and this is even better. I used exactly the ingredients listed, and it turned out perfectly. (I did learn a lesson from using smoked pork neckbones though. They fell apart after cooking and I had a tough time fishing all the chunks of bone out of the soup. Next time I will use hocks, even though they looked like dead feet in the grocery store.) But that smoked meat is delicious in this soup. I did think the cook time is a little off. Mine was ready to eat at 4 hours on high.

After reading the comments, I decided to use an extra 1/2 lb of peas. But other than that, I followed the recipe as written. It was fantastic and I'll be making this again.

I will never make pea soup another way. This was easy and measurements were accurate for me. I used smoked ham hocks for flavor, taking them out an hour or so before the soup was done and threw in 1-2 cups of diced ham.I froze this soup in one cup servings. After thawing, it tastes just like the day I made it!

This recipe is extremely easy to put together and tastes wonderful. I found I had to drain a bit of liquid but then I did have a large ham bone with meat. I think next time I will put in 6 cups of water.
