Barbecued Baby-Back Ribs

Being a "rib connoisseur", it took me years to find a barbecued rib recipe that was suitable. These ribs are raved about by family and friends - they're the best I've ever had! I serve them with potato salad and rolls.
SERVES 4
Ingredients
- 3 racks of baby-back pork ribs, each rack cut in half (about one pound each)
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup cider vinegar
- 3 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions

Put ribs in a large pot with water to cover.2
Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer 1 hour or until meat becomes fork-tender.3
Meanwhile mix remaining ingredients in a medium saucepan.4
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered, stirring often, 30 minutes or until slightly thickened.5
Heat broiler.6
Line broiler pan with foil for easy cleanup.7
Place ribs, meat side down, on broiler-pan rack, brush with ½ the sauce and broil 4 – 5 inches from heat source for 6 – 7 minutes.8
Turn ribs over, brush with remaining sauce and broil 6 – 7 minutes longer or until edges are just slightly charred.

I cant believe anyone finds that boiled ribs are very good ....all the good flavor is now in the water

These ribs are absolutely wonderful. So easy to make. I put my ribs in the crockpot until they were done, then put the sauce on and broiled as directed. Taste like Applebee's. My DH said he would serve these to anyone. Thanks so much for the yummy recipe.

Normally when I want ribs at home I buy Kettle Cooked back ribs that already come in bar-b-que sauce. Since I couldn't find them, I decided to buy fresh ribs and find a recipe at home. I've never made ribs before, but these turned out great! They take very little effort and come out very saucy. In, fact I only made about half the sauce and they were still excellent. I didn't have liquid smoke, but knew that I still wanted that smokey flavour, so I just added about a tablespoon of Bullseye Smokey Bar-B-Que sauce. I will definitely be making these again!

Boiling extracts flavour, roasting or broiling condenses flavour, that's why we make chicken stock with all the leftover chicken we don't eat!
