Salisbury Steak

Recipe #78910 | 35 min | 10 min prep | add private note

By: Dianne Clewien
Dec 14, 2003

I got this from a old Mennonite Cookbook that was passed on to me by my late mother in law. I tweaked it just a bit to had more flavor. This is as close to a perfect salisbury steak as I have ever eaten. It has an onion flavor all through it with out having the texture of onions. My grandchildren just loved it.

This was awesome. My family gobbled it up. Little Piggies!!! I did make just a few changes. I only had one onion soup mix on hand. So, I used one packet for the patties, and then poured one can of Fat Free Beef Gravey instead of Step #4. This one is a keeper!!!

Excellent! I used Mushroom Onion Soup Mix and added the can of mushrooms...very good!! I cooked the hamburger patties on our indoor grill to drain more fat off and then added to the pan of gravy. This is a very easy and tasty meal....goes great with mashed potatoes! Thanks for a keeper!

OMG! OMG! OMG! This was the best thing I've ever tasted!!! I did alter the recipe a tad, instead of 2 pkgs of onion soup mix, I only used one, then I covered the Steaks with 2 pkgs of prepared beef gravy....the onion taste was perfect, the gravy over it was fantastic...it is something that will be made over and over at my house.

Our family really enjoyed this dish. However, I did find it to be quite salty. It may have just been the brand of onion soup mix. I think that next time I make this I will use a brown or onion gravy mix instead of the soup mix and flour for the gravy. I served it with mashed potatoes and DH loved it. Thanks for a great recipe that I will definately make again.
