Pan Release, Better Than Pam Spray! (Professional Pan Coating)

Recipe #78579 | 5 min | 5 min prep | 1 1/2 cups (or depends on how much you make) (Change Servings)

RECIPE BY: KITTENCAL

If you bake and cook everyday then this is a must to have in your cupboard! Absolutely NOTHING will stick to your pans with this, it's so much cheaper than using cooking spray and works even better than Pam cooking spray, no chemical fumes and will not leave burnt on black residue on the edges of your pans like cooking spray will and will keep forever in your cupboard --- for baking recipes using chocolate you may use 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder in place of white flour or 1/4 cup each cocoa powder and flour --- this may be increased or decreased sucessfully just make certain that all three ingredients are the same amounts or the mixture will not work as well

Posted on: Dec 11, 2003

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup corn oil or canola oil or vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening, room temperature (Crisco shortening is good)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • Directions

    1. 1
Place all ingredients in a mixing bowl.
    2. 2
Using an electric mixer beat until mixture has increased in volume slightly and resembles marshmallow cream.
    3. 3
Place in a storage container, and store on the counter, or in a cupboard.
    4. 4
In hot weather, it may be refrigerated, but remember to take it out of the fridge, as it should be room temperature for easiest spreadability.
    5. 5
The mixture tends to separate slightly upon sitting in your cupboard or refrigerator so mix before using, then brush pans using a pastry brush or a clean paper towel.

I absolutely hate using sprays; propellants and all! ICK! This is a great way to keep things from sticking when you bake. It was wonderful on the muffins I just made and the Chocolate cake I made for my mom over the weekend. I made up a batch with the cocoa for just such an occasion. Thanks!

this stuff is great!!! I used it in Sausage Breakfast Muffins (OAMC) after reading other reviews of the recipe sticking to the paper liners or the pan..so I tried 1 muffin with a liner (it did stick to the paper..ripped a good chunk off my muffin when pealing off the paper..1 muffin I sprayed with Pam..it stuck .. the rest of the tin I used this recipe (that I had made a few weeks ago waiting to be used for something & this was it) may I say I will never grease and flour anything again..I will only use this.. I stopped making layer cakes because I always had a problem with a piece of one or another sticking and breaking while taking out of the pan.. gonna go dig up my pans and try baking a layer cake again using this..THANK YOU this stugg is WONDERFUL..give it a try..you will be AMAZED & VERY VERY PLEASED!!!

I found this mixture to be amazing! And, easy to use. However, I make two differrent kinds. The one with flour, and one with cocoa powder instead of flour for use when making chocolate cakes. (YUM!)
