Tart & Dilly Tomato Soup

Recipe #75681 | 10 min | 5 min prep | add private note

By: Denise!
Nov 5, 2003

Tomato soup in 10 minutes! Ditch that weak soup! This is a very tart soup with an intense dill and onion flavor. You could also add basil or other spices. No blenders and no chopping! Great for low carb diets and is excellent with a tuna melt!

SERVES 2 -4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Melt butter in a medium saucepan.
  2. 2
Add crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, minced onion and spices and simmer for 5 minutes.

Very good and easy soup! I like how tart and tangy it is with the dill and minced onion. I followed the recipe exactly. So easy — why would I buy canned tomato soup again? I liked using the crushed tomatoes as it gave it an added texture. Thanks for sharing! Will definitely make again.

Yummy & Easy! I used vegetable broth, minced garlic and only 1 T dill. Next time I'm going to try and substitue olive oil for the butter and see if it's as good dairy-free.

Really good soup! I didn't have the crushed tomatoes...only diced. After melting the butter and adding my tomatoes, I gave it a little whirl with my stick blender. I didn't blend it smooth; I left some small chunks of tomato. I love soup for my solo lunches. This will be a definate standard.

Absolutely delicious! I made it exactly as posted and I added some garlic powder and a few parsley flakes. I love the tart taste! This is going to become one of my regular recipes. Thank you for this recipe!
