Fried Broccoli

Recipe #69501 | 8 min | 3 min prep | add private note

By: KRB
Aug 25, 2003

My friends and I used to make this for every barbeque when I was growing up. It is an adaptation of a recipe my girlfriend's dad saw on TV. Although I have no idea what that original recipe was, this one tastes soooooooooo good with barbequed anything!

SERVES 4 -5 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In a frying pan heat olive oil.
  2. 2
Put in a pinch of rosemary and saute until the scent gets very pungent.
  3. 3
Add broccoli and a couple of dashes of white pepper (2-4).
  4. 4
Saute until the broccoli gets very green but looks crunchy/cooked.
  5. 5
Lastly, toss in bread crumbs a bit at a time while still sauteing.
  6. 6
The crumbs will start to stick into the broccoli.
  7. 7
Once all or most of the crumbs are in the broccoli, saute for 1 or 2 minutes longer to brown.
  8. 8
    Serve right away.

The idea is great. I'm not a huge fan of rosemary so I followed the other reviewers and used crushed red pepper and garlic. It was very good. Served with Diet Cola Chicken and they fit together nicely. Dinner with less than 10 minutes of work!

This is delicious! I followed the recipe exactly, and used seasoned breadcrumbs as other readers have suggested. I only used 1 T of olive oil, and I think if I'd had more broccoli, I would need to use 2 Tablespoons. I will be making this often!

I should have read other peoples suggestions before I just made it. I think with butter and garlic it would be better.. I just found it really bland. But it was easy, and Im sure with some modifications that fit my taste, it will be great. =)

I really like bright green crunchy broccoli. This took very little time and effort to prepare. I added some garlic as well. Cooked it in a wok and it couldn't have been easier to do. Thanks KRG
