Made this last night as stated but once it was all mixed up still tasted like refried beans from a can. Had to add a lot more jalapeno's, the brine AND cayenne to spice it up. Great easy recipe but next time might try using pinto beans

Haven't had Frito Lay Bean Dip, but love this recipe. As written it is just at the edge of being a little too spicy, but ya just keep eating it anyway. At first thought maybe next time I'd put in one less slice of the bottled jalapeno slices......then thought no, it really is the perfect amount of heat just the way it is. Recipe says to chill.......but we prefer it warmed in the microwave with a little grated cheese on top. Will make it often. Thanks for a great recipe!

I have not rated this yet and I've been making it for almost a year now. So good!! I have used my own jalapenos at times and found that it's better without the sugar. It really depends upon how you peppers are pickled. (heh) Thank you for sharing a great recipe. Also it makes a lot! Such a grate money saver!!

This is very good. The recipe I use calls for canned pinto beans that have been drained - which is how I always make it. I'm sure the refried beans are good but if you want to control the seasonings go with the canned pinto beans.
