Meatballs for Spaghetti or Sandwiches

Recipe #66512 | 30 min | 10 min prep | add private note

By: FlemishMinx
Jul 10, 2003

This is a simple recipe, but tasty, and with ingredients always on hand. Any leftovers make good sandwiches, or a topping for pizza when sliced up.

SERVES 4 , 12 golfball size (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Mix spices with breadcrumbs and grated cheese.
  2. 2
Thoroughly combine with remaining ingredients, by hand.
  3. 3
    Shape into balls.
  4. 4
Brown in olive oil on all sides, or alternatively, bake in 400 degree oven for approx.
  5. 5
20 to 30 minutes, till browned but not cooked through.
  6. 6
The meatballs maintain their shape better using the oven method.
  7. 7
Add to spaghetti sauce and simmer for 30 minutes before serving.

I thought these were just OK and won't be making them again. I can't imagine I did anything wrong since the recipe is very simple but am baffled after reading other reviews. Sorry.

This was my first time making meatballs and this recipe is a keeper! My husband loved them and requested them again soon. (I also used parmesan instead of romano and added garlic.) LATER: I forgot to mention that I have used turkey in them as well with delicious results!

Made these meatballs for dinner the other night and added them to my spaghetti sauce. The only change I made was to add one clove of minced garlic - I never make meatballs without it. Excellent taste and thanks for posting!

These meatballs were excellent. I didn't have romano cheese so I used grated parmesan. I mixed the meatballs with Classico Three Cheese spaghetti sauce and we had meatball subs. Thanks for a great recipe.
