Holiday Poke Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 9 inch cake layers, cooled
  • cups boiling water
  • package red gelatin
  • package lime gelatin
  • 12 ounces Cool Whip, thawed
  • Directions

    1. 1
      Place cake layers, top side up, in two 9" round cake pans.
    2. 2
      Pierce cake with large fork at 1/2" intervals.
    3. 3
      Stir 1 cup of the boiling water into each flavor gelatin in seperate bowls 2 minutes or until completely dissolved.

      Carefully pour red gelatin over 1 cake layer and lime gelatin over the other. Refrigerate 3 hours.

      Dip 1 cake pan in warm water 10 seconds; unmold onto serving plate.
    6. 6
      Spread with about 1 cup of the Cool Whip.

      Unmold second cake layer; place on first cake layer.

      Frost with remaining Cool Whip.

      Refrigerate until ready to serve

    i grew up on this cake. i love the lime. it is so refrshing and lite tasting. i was making this today and had to check if it was here and it id so i need to give it 5 stars but it should have like 10 stars

    I made this for halloween. I got chocolate layer cake and just used orange gelatin to get the halloween colors, it looked great and it was good too.

    I love this cake. Nice and light and very pretty. I prefer to use all cherry jello but any flavor works.
