Chinese Green Beans

Recipe #53164 | 17 min | 10 min prep | add private note

By: BoxO'Wine

Delicous and spicy green beans, just like your favorite Chinese restaurant. Be careful with the sesame oil, or it can overpower your beans. Prep time includes steaming the beans.

SERVES 6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Wash beans, trim ends and remove strings.
  2. 2
arrange beans in a vegetable steamer (or a colander that will sit nicely in saucepan), and place over boiling water.
  3. 3
    cover and steam 5 minutes.
  4. 4
drain and plunge into cold water, drain again.
  5. 5
coat a large nonstick skillet (or wok) with cooking spray or peanut oil and heat until hot.
  6. 6
add gingerroot and garlic and saute 30 secs.
  7. 7
    add beans, saute 5 minutes.
  8. 8
combine 2 tablespoons water and remaining 5 ingredients.
  9. 9
    stir well.
  10. 10
add to beans, cook 30 secs or until thoroughly heated, stirring constantly.

I made a double batch of these and froze half of them. The fresh ones were awesome and the frozen ones were a little limp - not as crisp and fresh. I served these with Asian Pork Tenderloin (recipe 54114) and brown rice for a yummy meal.

This was SO tastey! I think I too could have cooked steamed them a little longer, but the best part is, I didn't make an entire lb. of beans so I had a good amount of sauce to REALLY coat the beans. This sauce is SO GOOD! I am going to use the same recipe to make beef with broccoli!! I bet that would be great! The sauce would really stick to the broccoli. YUM! Thanks BOX O'WINE! I'm going to see if you have any more recipes!

This is a WONDERFUL Chinese Green Bean recipe! I am so glad I found this. I made it exactly as you stated using a wok instead of a skillet. The ingredients are a perfect blend for the beans. Everyone raved and asked for the recipe. Thank you so much, BoxO'Wine for sharing this.
