Crock Pot Potato Chowder

Another of my aunt's recipes. Great for those cold nights.

Ingredients

  • cups diced potato
  • 1/3 cup onion, chopped
  • 3 (14 1/2 ounce) cans chicken broth
  • 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, cubed
  • 1/2 lb bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • chives
  • Directions

    1. 1
      Combine potatoes, onion, broth, and cream of chicken soup in crock pot.
    2. 2
      Cover and cook on low 8-10 hours or until potatoes are tender.
    3. 3
      Add cream cheese and blend.
    4. 4
      Top with bacon and chives before serving.

    well I guess this doesn't really need another review, but it really is worth making, the taste is fantastic, it is sooooo easy, cheap and looks great if you garnish it and add some really rustic bread or sourdough. I wouldn't hesitate serving this to friends for supper after a good first course but then again it's so nice to just wallow in on a cold night... thanks for the recipe

    Fantastic flavor. Wonderful soup have shared the recipe w/ everyone I know and everybody loves it's easy and great taste. Added some celery the 2nd time also used green onions for an additional topping and it was terrific!!

    I just now had some of this chowder after waiting for it to cook all day and its very very good...great flavor, creamy texture,and very easy to prepare. The only thing I added was some chopped celery. Just delicious..thank you !!

    Stacylu, 5 stars for flavor and ease! I went a little nuts at my roomates suggestions and started adding other good stuff to this recipe which is aother good reason for 5 stars. Let's see...we added whole kernel and creamed corn. I used grilled, cajun spiced sausage instead of bacon because it's what I had on hand. I didn't realize until too late that I used herbed chicken broth. I didn't have chives either. I didn't set out to make so many additions to this recipe but it turned out great anyway! I served with buttermilk cornbread. I will have the leftovers today for lunch and tonight with grilled cabbage. Thanks for posting!!
