Cinnamon Oranges

Recipe #50124 | 5 min | 5 min prep | add private note

By: Sackville
Jan 7, 2003

This is a very simple dessert that we discovered in Morocco. It was served in many restaurants for a light end to all kinds of meals and the combination of cinnamon and fruit is wonderful. The most important thing is to find lovely, sweet and juicy oranges. If you use pale, tasteless ones this recipe won't work at all.

SERVES 2 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Peel oranges, then slice crossways into rounds and arrange on a pretty plate.
  2. 2
Add a few apple slices, if desired.
  3. 3
Lightly dust with cinnamon and serve immediately.

This was an unexpectedly delightful combination. For myself after lunch today, I only fixed one organic valencia orange with the cinnamon...I sliced it as directed, leaving the peel on but ended up quartering each slice to a bite size piece. I will definitely keep this in mind for a light after dinner dessert. Thank you!

OK, the thing I thing you should definitely add to this recipe is honey. I do it a alot at home and the juice of the orange with the honey and cinnamom is just delicious. Simply, before sprinkling with cinnamon, pour a couple of teaspoons of honey over the oranges (and apple if you wish).

WOW! I really love these cinnamon oranges. It's important to powder the cinnamon very fine in a mixer for this recipe. We(dad and me) had this at lunch this afternoon for dessert. I used Navel oranges, came out very sweet and "addictive" to be honest. The combo of cinnamon with these oranges went very well. Easy to fix, eggless, healthy and tasty - it's got everything you need and look for in a recipe - EXCELLENT DISCOVERY, Friedel!

It doesn't get much simpler than this and the cinnamon-orange combo is wonderful, with the cinnamon bringing out the orange's natural sweetness. Pays to have a light touch with the cinnamon.
