Made this tonight for the first time. I had a problem with the dough for the dumplings being VERY sticky. I had to add more flour just to get it so I could pinch it off, let alone knead it. Other than that, it had great flavor and was easy to make. (The dumplings looked like meatballs though, I guess I pinched off a little too much) Added celery(with leaves on), carrots, marjoram and basil to the broth, strained through cheesecloth before cooking the dumplings. I will post again when I make it next time in case tonight was just a fluke!

This is very good on flavor. I'm not sure if I like the baking soda in the dumplings because they get really puffy at first. I like the dumplings to be a little more flat, like a noodle.

This was very good all of my familey loved it. I added 2 diced stalks of celery,2 diced carrots and 1 small onion diced to the water and chicken befor it was cooked for extra flavor.

This is my husband's favorite recipe for Chicken and Dumplings and it does taste almost identical to Cracker Barrel. I made this the other night and followed the directions exactly. Sometimes after I have cooked the chicken and before I put in the dumplings, I like to thicken it up with a little flour and milk. It's excellent either way.
