This is a "no crust" apple pie that my mom used to make. It is great served alone or with vanilla ice cream. This is a "must" for our family at holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    Preheat oven to 350.
  2. 2
Fill pie pan 3/4 full with apples.

  4. 4
    Sprinkle over apples.
  5. 5
In saucepan, melt butter and remove from heat.
  6. 6
Add remaining ingredients (including the 1 cup of sugar remaining).

I didn't change anything, but my family loves this pie. Of course the apples you choose affect who it tastes too. We love it with Fuji apples.

This apple pie was lovely. I added a handful of finely ground walnuts and grated lemon zest to the apples. Thanks Amy D for this quick beautiful pie recipe.

This is excellent, it was fast, easy and delicious. I made it almost exactly as written except I mixed the 1/4c. of sugar and the 3 t. of cinnamon together then mixed it into the apples with about 1 t. lemon juice. I also added about 1 t. vanilla and a pinch of nutmeg to the batter and baked it in a springfoam and pan and it was perfect. Thank you for this wonderful recipe.

I would highly recommend this to beginning cooks. It will make your reputation, and it is simplicity itself. Making it with real butter is key, in my opinion, as the taste comes right through. Even committed non-dessert eaters love this. A dash of cardamom is also nice on the apples, or perhaps the Baking Spice from Pampered barbara.
