Sesame Chicken

Recipe #44321 | 21 min | 5 min prep | SERVES 6 (Change Servings)

RECIPE BY: Jenny White

This recipe really satisfies my craving for Chinese food. I serve it over rice and steamed vegetables on the side. I usually double the sauce to make it especially decadent.

Ingredients

  • 6 boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • tablespoon cornstarch
  • teaspoon ground ginger
  • teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • Directions

    1. 1
Cut chicken breast into 1 inch strips.
    2. 2
Heat a large non-stick skillet that has been sprayed with Pam, over medium-high heat.
    3. 3
Cook chicken strips for about 6 minutes until no longer pink.
    4. 4
Mix together honey, soy sauce, water, corn starch, ginger and red pepper flakes.
    5. 5
Whisk until no corn starch lumps appear.
    6. 6
Pour sauce mixture into skillet with chicken.
    7. 7
      Cook until sauce thickens slightly.
    8. 8
You can add more water if sauce is too thick.
    9. 9
      Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
    10. 10
Cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until chicken starts to soak up the sauce.

Too much of a honey taste. Recipe # 103215 (Panda Express Orange Chicken) is a MUCH better chinese recipe to try.

Love, love, love, love love this recipe!!! So good! Was a bit too much soy sauce for me so I split it and used 1/2 the soy sauce and made up the difference with sesame oil. Delicious!!!

This satisfied my taste for order-out Chinese Sesame chicken. It's practically guilt-free since the chicken is not deep fried. I made a half-order of the recipe and the proportions were fine. The sauce thickened to a beautiful dark brown color.
