Beef Chow Mein

This is a original recipe by Ri Le from a Restaurant here called Ri-Le Vietnamese Family Restaurant. Prep time includes marinating time.

SERVES 2 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

    Place sliced beef in a small bowl.
  2. 2
    Add dash of salt, dash of pepper and 1/2 tsp minced garlic.
  3. 3
    Refrigerate for 2 hours.
  4. 4
    In a small bowl, combine next 5 ingredients.
  5. 5
    Set aside.
  6. 6
    Heat skillet or wok over high heat.
  7. 7
    Stir-fry beef until cooked throughout.
  8. 8
    Add next 6 ingredients.
  9. 9
    Stir and shake pan constantly for 2-3 minutes more until vegetables just start to become aromatic.

    Blend in fish sauce mixture.
  11. 11
    Add onion, cabbage and oyster sauce.
  12. 12
    Continue to stir-fry approximately 1 minute or until crisp tender.

    Serve over hot rice.

A dish that the whole family enjoyed, the flavours are fantastic. I didn't have snowpeas, bamboo shoots or mushrooms, but I did add red and green pepper, and some green onion. Thanks for sharing this recipe

    I did a slimmed down version of this, with just beef, carrots, cabbage and onions. Loved the sauce and the cooking times were perfect. Thanks for a simple recipe I will use again.
