My step-son and I found this recipe and we've been making ice cream EVERYDAY! He loves the half-and-half but I don't care for the taste of "homemade" ice cream.. I LOVED it with 1/4 C. Chocolate Caramel creamer and 1/4 C. milk instead. VERY YUMMY!

Hello. I am a college student and everyone knows that college students have NOTHING in the fridge. So I like most have nothing. So I was at the store and bought some soy milk because cow milk was WAY to much. I bought the vanilla kind cause it had flavor. Then I came across this recipe and thought I would try it with soy milk so I did because I of course had NO ice cream. I followed the recipe and it turned out FANTASTIC. Because I used Soy milk with vanilla, I did not have to add any, and btw I did not even have any. But overall it turned out FANTASTIC. Love it and SOO much cheaper than any Ice cream and SOO much better for you. I am gonna try it next with Splenda.

I had my fourth grade class make this. On the day we made it, we went on a field trip to a very old house built in the 1800's. There my students were taught a lesson in the one room school house, churned butter and washed clothes with a washboard. I thought it was only fittingly that we made ice cream that afternoon without the modern conveniences that we have today. The students put the ingredients in their bags and then we went outside and had great fun throwing our bags around as we waited for them to harden. Some of my students were a little too zealous with their bags and the inner bag broke, thus releasing the cream into the salt water. However, many students were able to make ice cream, which we shared with those less fortunate students. They all raved about the ice cream and several students stuck their faces in their bags to lick up every last drop. One of my students is allergic to dairy, so I had him bring in some rice milk. I was delighted to see that this type of milk worked just as well as the half and half. All in all, we had a fabulous time and I am sure this recipe will live on in the hearts of my students.

Made this with the kids for my daughter's birthday party! It was fun for the kids to make their own ice cream! While using half and half will give you a very creamy product it is possible to make this with plain milk as well. I also just used plain table salt and it worked just fine. We used a mixture of ice and snow from outside as her party theme was a "Winter Party". A really fun thing do do with the kids and I always have these ingredients on hand too. Thanks for this great activity!
