Ingredients

  • medium potato
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
  • teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne (or to taste)
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
  • tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Directions

    1. 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
    2. 2
In a small bowl, combine oregano, thyme, paprika, cayenne, black pepper, sugar, cumin, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, Tabasco sauce, and oil; mix well into a paste.
    3. 3
Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil; pour a small amount of oil onto foil and spread with a paper towel.
    4. 4
Peel potatoes and slice into french fry shapes.
    5. 5
Place fries in a plastic bag with paste and work paste onto fries; alternatively you can do this in a bowl, but the bag method is easier.
    6. 6
Place fries on lined baking sheet, trying not to let edges touch.
    7. 7
Bake in preheated oven for approximately 30-35 minutes (your time may vary with the size fry you cut); turn once during cooking to brown underside.

Ooh, Cher, great fries! Easy and delicious. I probably doubled most of the spices and it was excellent. I put sliced potatoes and everything in a plastic bag and mixed everything up - nice and neat. Thanks for posting!

Actually, I very well may rereview this!!! I, trying to may tims early cut the potatoes and seasoned them, them left them in the frig until I wanted ti put them in the oven. DON'T DO THIS!!! They tasted good, but they shed their juices before I put them in the oven, and were kinda soggie. The flavor was very good. Will try again to do it correctly. Thanks for the nice recipe.

This was a great change from ordinary baked fries. I used 1 tsp of chicken broth instead of oil to make the paste and added a bit more hot sauce because we like the kick. My husband already is talking about next time! Thank you.

With all these fantastic reviews I guess you don't really need another one, but here it is anyways! These were 'tremendous' (quote BF). I mixed the paste directly in the bag so no cleaning up at all afterwards! I was surprised how nice and crispy they got even with the small amount of oil. I used parchment paper instead of aluminium foil so I didn't need to use any oil at all to bake them apart from the bit that's already in the paste! This is defenitely one to keep!
