Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 1/4 cups flour
Directions

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.2
Gradually stir in the flour.3
Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth, about 3 min.4
Pat into a 1/3" thick rectangle measuring 11x8".5
Cut into 2x1" strips.6
Place 1" apart on ungreased cookie sheets.7
Prick with a fork.8
Bake at 300 degrees for 25 min.9
or until bottom begins to brown.10
Cool for 5 min.; remove to a wire rack to cool completely.

WOW! WOW! WOW! These are better than any shortbread I have ever made or bought before!

This is the exact recipe I was looking for! I had lost my version and LOVE this shortbread, particularly dipped in chocolate. My only comment is that they took about 1/2 of the recommended baking time--maybe 14 minutes. Just keep an eye on them! Thanks for a delicious recipe!

Simple and tasty! I will be making these again! I excluded 1/4 cup of the flour, and sprinkled sugar on top. These are 5 star cookies, all the way. Thanks
